OpenAI acquires TBPN Podcast

OpenAI has acquired popular technology podcast TBPN, aiming to strengthen conversations around artificial intelligence while retaining the show’s editorial independence. CEO Sam Altman described TBPN as his “favourite tech show”, emphasising that the team will continue its candid coverage without influence.

 The podcast, hosted by Jordi Hays and John Coogan, is known for its daily discussions on AI, startups and the broader technology ecosystem. OpenAI said the acquisition brings a specialised editorial team into its strategy division to enhance engagement with global audiences.

 Fidji Simo noted that OpenAI seeks to foster open, constructive dialogue around AI’s impact rather than follow traditional corporate communication models. The company plans to leverage TBPN’s platform to reach builders, users and industry voices more effectively.Under the agreement, TBPN will retain full control over its programming, guest selection and editorial decisions, ensuring credibility and independence remain intact. The integration also signals OpenAI’s intent to expand its public engagement strategy amid rapid AI adoption.
