One of the common joint diseases Osteoarthritis is on the rise with studies indicating that nearly 15% of adults suffer from OA. The condition commonly affects large joints such as the knee, hip, and shoulder, leading to chronic pain, reduced mobility, and a significant decline in quality of life. While physiotherapy, pain medications and joint injections remain standard treatments, a substantial proportion of patients continue to experience persistent pain.

Addressing the media at the Medicover Cancer Institute, Dr. Prashanth Reddy, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, highlighted the emerging role of Low Dose Radiotherapy (LDRT) as a safe, effective and non-invasive treatment option for selected osteoarthritis patients. He explained that LDRT works through its anti-inflammatory effect, helping reduce chronic joint inflammation and pain.
