Palakonda March 2026: Marking World Kidney Day, NephroPlus, one of Asia’s largest dialysis care networks, organised a local water conservation initiative in Palakonda, Andhra Pradesh by distributing RO reject water generated during dialysis to Area Hospital, Palakonda and to a local farmer, S. Srinivasarao, for non-drinking utility purposes.

Dialysis treatment requires large volumes of purified water, and the RO purification process generates reject water that can be reused safely for non-clinical applications. At the NephroPlus dialysis centre in Palakonda, an average of 30–35 hemodialysis sessions are conducted daily, generating nearly 10,000 litres of reject water every day.

For the past two years, this rejected RO water has been supplied regularly to Area Hospital, Palakonda for general utility purposes such as sanitation and other non-clinical activities, and occasionally to support hospital construction-related work. As part of the World Kidney Day awareness activity, the water was also distributed to local farmer S. Srinivasarao for agricultural utility use.The initiative was carried out under the supervision of the District Medical Officer (DMO), along with the centre’s Quality Manager, Centre Manager, the hospital partner, and the participating farmer.

Rohit Singh, Group CEO, Nephroplus, “Healthcare institutions must lead by example in the responsible use of resources. Dialysis requires significant volumes of purified water, making it essential that we manage this resource thoughtfully and efficiently. Our ‘Green Dialysis’ initiative.
