MP Eatala stages indefinite protest at Bowenpally market

29-03-2026 12:00:00 AM

BJP Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender began an indefinite dharna on Saturday at the Bowenpally market yard, declaring that he will not leave until all the  problems related to the yard are resolved. Addressing the media and the public, he demanded immediate action on several fronts: complete removal of all accumulated garbage, cleaning and restoration of the underground drainage system, improvement of the drinking water supply, revival of a biogas plant to process rotten vegetables, and regular payments to sanitation contractors so that cleaning work can resume properly.

MP Rajender even suggested that the market yard could be closed for two days if necessary to carry out a thorough cleaning drive. The MP strongly criticized the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, pointing out the irony of ambitious projects like the “Future City” and Musi Riverfront development involving thousands of crores of rupees, while the government has failed to pay sanitation contractors even Rs 7 lakh per month for nine months.

The MP lamented that women visiting the market have raised serious concerns about the toilets, stating that there is no water supply, doors are missing, and they require another woman to stand guard for safety while using the facilities. The unbearable stench due to rotting vegetables has driven away customers, resulting in a sharp decline in business. Despite complaints to ministers and the municipal commissioner, no solution has been implemented so far, Eatala Rajendar alleged.
