Malkajgiri Police book 1,197 cases over unsafe vehicle lights

Malkajgiri Traffic Police booked 1,197 cases during a special enforcement drive against unauthorized and unsafe vehicle lighting across Traffic Zones I and II on Sunday. The drive targeted vehicles using high beam lights, dazzling modified lights and vehicles operating without proper headlights, which often create visibility issues and increase the risk of accidents during night travel.

According to the commissionerate, fines amounting to Rs 2.16 lakh were collected during the operation conducted till 1.00 p.m. on May 25. Among the police stations, Alwal Traffic Police registered the highest number of cases at 190, followed by Begumpet with 181 and Trimulgherry with 113 cases.

In Zone II, LB Nagar Traffic Police booked 123 cases, while Vanasthalipuram registered 109 cases. Police said the special drive was launched to improve road safety and reduce inconvenience to commuters caused by improper vehicle lighting. Officials urged motorists to use only standard vehicle lights and avoid illegal modifications that could endanger other road users.
