Mahatma Jyotiba Phule's 199th birth anniversary was celebrated in Secunderabad Court on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, OBC Lawyers JAC Chairman Talakokkula Raju praised Jyotiba Phule as a great man who worked for the upliftment of the lower classes. He said that Jyotiba Phule's courage in fighting to eradicate social ills like untouchability and caste discrimination is inspiring.
Secunderabad Bar Association President Gurram Rajasekhar Reddy said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule worked for women's education along with his wife Savitribai Phule. He said that he started the first girls' schools in the country to promote women's education. He said that it is the responsibility of all of us to inform the future generations about the life story of Jyotiba Phule.
Bar Association Vice President G Mallikarjun said that Jyotiba Phule was a warrior who fought against the caste system in this country and fought for untouchability. Bar Association General Secretary Nagulapalli Janardhan Reddy, speaking on the occasion, urged the backward classes to take Jyotiba Phule as a guide and work towards his ideals.
