As part of the preparatory works for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Mahabubabad district has achieved the highest mapping percentage in the state, recording 92.24% coverage.
District officials announced that Mahabubabad is currently leading all other districts in Telangana in the mapping exercise being carried out ahead of the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. According to officials, voters whose names appear in both the 2002 and 2025 electoral rolls will not be required to submit any supporting documents for verification.
However, in the ongoing mapping process, voters are being asked to submit necessary documents for authentication. Speaking during a meeting held to review the progress of the SIR preparations, officials explained that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting the exercise as per the provisions of the Representation of the People Act. They emphasized that the Election Commission of India holds full authority to carry out revisions of electoral rolls before every election or as and when required to protect the integrity of the voter list.
Officials noted that frequent migration of people has led to several discrepancies in the existing voter lists. Many voters are registered in more than one place, names of deceased persons continue to remain on the rolls, and other anomalies have surfaced. The Special Intensive Revision has been initiated by the Election Commission with the primary objective of ensuring that every eligible citizen is included in the voter list while no ineligible person is enrolled.
The officials urged all political parties to extend full cooperation for the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision. The meeting was attended by representatives of various political parties including Marneni Venkanna, Suresh Naidu, Shyam Loy Sharma and Chakrapani. Senior district officials present included collectorate administrative officer Pavan Kumar, Superintendent Kiran, Ranjit and others.
The Special Intensive Revision is a significant exercise aimed at cleaning up and updating the electoral rolls across the country to ensure transparent and error-free elections. Mahabubabad district’s leading performance in the mapping drive has been appreciated by the higher authorities.
