Maharashtra CM Fadnavis urges Centre and state to work in close coordination to make the second edition of the global entertainment summit a bigger success
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday reviewed preparations for the second edition of the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2027 during a meeting with a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, led by Secretary Chanchal Kumar.
Recalling the success of the inaugural edition of WAVES, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai from May 1 to 4, 2025, Fadnavis said Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions the summit as a global platform for films, music, gaming, animation and storytelling.
He urged the Centre and the Maharashtra government to work in close coordination to ensure the 2027 edition is an even bigger success. During the meeting, Kumar briefed the Chief Minister on the preparations and key initiatives planned for WAVES 2027, which is scheduled to be held in Mumbai.
WAVES 2025 star power
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone were among the biggest attractions at the inaugural WAVES 2025, where they shared insights on Indian cinema, creativity and the industry’s global ambitions. The summit also brought together filmmakers, creators, media professionals and policymakers, highlighting India’s growing role as a global entertainment hub.
