K Ramakrishna Rao appointed New Chief Secretary of Telangana

Senior IAS officer K Ramakrishna Rao (1991 batch) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Telangana, succeeding A Santhi Kumari (1989 batch), who will superannuate on April 30. Orders to this effect were issued by the Telangana government on Sunday evening.

Ramakrishna Rao, currently serving as the Special Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning, will continue to hold the Full Additional Charge (FAC) of this key portfolio alongside his new responsibilities. Known for his prudent financial stewardship, Rao has been instrumental in stabilizing Telangana’s finances since the state’s formation in 2014. He spearheaded financial reforms that enhanced transparency and fiscal discipline.

An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi, with an MBA in Investments, Ramakrishna Rao brings extensive administrative experience. He did his intermediate study from APRJC (Andhra Pradesh Residential Junior College)  Nagarjuna Sagar. Over his distinguished career, he has held critical positions, including Director General of the Centre for Good Governance (CGG), Collector and District Magistrate of Adilabad and Guntur, and leadership roles in Education and Healthcare sectors.
