Interaction with foreign students held at CDS

An interactive session with students from Minerva University, San Francisco was held at the Centre for Dalit Studies (CDS) in Borabanda on Saturday. CDS Chairperson Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, former Telangana State Council for Higher Education Prof. Limbadri and Public Prosecutor Nutan were the keynote speakers on the occasion. 

42 international students from USA, Germany, Finland, Japan, Libya, Ukraine, Poland, South Africa, Philippines, Canada and other countries obtained a clear understanding of the system, real situations and experiences India's caste community. 

On this occasion, the speakers spoke about the origins of the caste system (differences between caste and varna), the past of Dalits, the current living conditions, the impact of caste in contemporary India. The speakers also analyzed and explained various narratives and related topics found  in Indian and Dalit literature. This was followed by an exchange of questions and views of the visiting students.
