India, Moldova back stronger trade ties

Chisinau (Moldova): India and Moldova on Monday agreed to deepen cooperation in trade, investment and technology while discussing reforms of multilateral organisations, including the UNSC, and cooperation in combating terrorism during President Droupadi Murmu’s state visit.

Murmu, the first Indian President to visit Moldova, held talks with President Maia Sandu, with both sides agreeing to promote trade and investment, strengthen resilient supply chains and improve connectivity. 

They also discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence and education.

Murmu said economic cooperation remains a key pillar of bilateral ties and that the India-Moldova Business Forum would boost commercial engagement.

Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs Sibi George said the leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues and reaffirmed their commitment to international law, peace and dialogue. Murmu invited Sandu to visit India at a mu­tually convenient date. —PTI
