Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, inaugurated the BioAsia 2025 conference at HICC, Madhapur, on Tuesday. The Chief Minister emphasized Hyderabad's growing prominence as the Global Life Sciences Capital, attracting global leaders and steering the future of healthcare innovation.
Highlighting the city’s robust pharmaceutical, healthcare, and biotech industries, Revanth Reddy laid emphasis on the government’s commitment to research, innovation, and education. With strategic investments in higher education and the establishment of Genome Valley as a biotech hub, Telangana aims to be at the forefront of scientific advancements, he said.
CM spoke on how the state has set an ambitious target of achieving a $1 trillion economy in the next decade, with Hyderabad's Core Urban Area driving growth in the services sector. Key projects like Future City and AI City will further bolster economic expansion. Hyderabad is also emerging as India’s electric vehicle (EV) capital, leading in EV sales. To promote sustainable transport, the government plans to introduce 3,000 electric buses into the TSRTC fleet, he said.
Further, Revanth said that to enhance its manufacturing capabilities, the government is developing a major industrial hub between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Regional Ring Road (RRR), leveraging the China Plus One strategy to attract global investments. Radial roads will connect these key zones, facilitating industrial growth. Additionally, Telangana is setting up a Mega Dry Port to enhance connectivity to Andhra Pradesh’s seaports, boosting trade and exports, added the Chief Minister.
Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad’s growing strength in biosciences, biotech, and life sciences, underpinned by cutting-edge research, manufacturing, and skill development initiatives. The expansion of US-based biotech firm Amgen in Hyderabad is a testament to the state’s pro-business policies and world-class infrastructure in life sciences.
Further strengthening the ecosystem, German company Miltenyi Biotec has launched a cell and gene therapy unit in Genome Valley, with four more multinational firms committing to operations in the state, he said
Telangana has emerged as India's top investment destination, securing Rs 1.80 lakh crore at the World Economic Forum in Davos, set to create 50,000 new jobs across multiple sectors.
