Harish urges Govt to pump Godavari floodwaters

Hyderabad: BRS LP deputy leader and former Minister T. Harish Rao on Friday urged the State government to immediately run all available pumps to harness ongoing Godavari river floodwaters, rejecting official claims that El Niño is responsible for the current water shortage. In a letter to Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Harish Rao alleged that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) reservoirs remain depleted despite heavy upstream inflows, exposing poor water management by the Congress administration.

He demanded that pumping stations operate round-the-clock—rather than intermittently—to secure irrigation water for farmers battling dry conditions. Calling on the government to set aside political considerations, the BRS leader urged the state to take responsibility rather than blaming nature for water scarcity. 

He further stated that the State Government has been only criticisng BRS instead of finding solutions to existing problems. It has failed on several counts. The state of farmers in the State is deplorable. Right from issuance of fertilizers to procurement and release of water, the Revanth Reddy Government has failed.
