The Telangana government is providing strong support to poor families for their daughters’ marriages and will soon sanction the second phase of Indiramma houses to eligible beneficiaries, said Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka.
The Minister participated as the chief guest at a cheque distribution program for Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes held on Thursday at the Rythu Vedika in Mangapet mandal headquarters. She distributed cheques to 29 eligible beneficiaries from various villages in the mandal. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Seethakka stated that the state government is effectively implementing the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes to provide financial security for the marriages of girls from poor and middle-class families.
She emphasized that the people’s government stands firmly with families to reduce the financial burden during daughters’ weddings. She urged parents to completely eradicate child marriages and conduct weddings only after girls reach the legally permissible age. The Minister called upon everyone to cooperate in eliminating child marriages and to give priority to girls’education.
Seethakka assured that houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme would be sanctioned to all eligible beneficiaries in the second phase. She added that the government’s objective is to deliver services to the public in a transparent manner. Highlighting women’s empowerment initiatives, the Minister said the government is determined to turn one crore women into lakhpatis (millionaires) through the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme. She encouraged members of women’s self-help groups to make the best use of the interest-free loans being provided and achieve economic progress.
