Andhra Pradesh played host to the 4th Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting on Power Sector Reforms in Vijayawada. The high-level conclave, chaired by Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik, brought together Energy Ministers and senior officials from key power-intensive states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting focused on revamping India’s power distribution landscape, advancing energy sustainability, and strengthening regulatory and financial frameworks in the sector.

Delivering the welcome address, Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar reaffirmed the state's commitment to implementing transformative reforms in the distribution sector. Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik, in his keynote address, stressed the urgency of structural reforms in power distribution companies (DISCOMs), underlining that financial stress and operational inefficiencies continue to challenge the sector. He lauded Andhra Pradesh for its proactive approach in spearheading energy reforms and facilitating the GoM meeting.
