The Jeedimetla Police arrested four Inter-state offenders on Thursday and seized Rs 30 lakh worth stolen property from accused persons.Police investigation relied on leads from CCTV footage at the scene of the offence, analysis of over 64 cameras along the escape route, and advanced technical tools.
B Laxman (40), resident of Balanagar, Medchal district, lodged a complaint stating that after the work, he parked the road roller beside the road, near Industrial Park, Jeedimetla. On January 21 at about 8am he came to the parked place and noticed that the road roller was missing. Arrested persons have been identified as Afroz Ahmed Patel (24) and Mohammed Ibrahim (31), Shaik Anwar (35) and Balla Ram Satyanarayana (47).
The accused observed that a road roller was parked on the roadside at Dulapally road, in the industrial area, confirming that no one was around. They then approached the road roller. A1 contacted the crane owner, A5, who sent two cranes. Simultaneously, A1 called A4, the owner of a DCM vehicle, who brought his vehicle. After both the cranes and the DCM vehicle arrived, they used the cranes to lift the road roller, placed it on the DCM vehicle, and fled the scene with the stolen property.
Previously, they had committed a similar theft of a road roller from Dulapally in the Petbasheerabad PS limits. The stolen road roller was sold to Ibrahim’s scrap shop, where it was cut into pieces using a gas cutter. The parts were then sold to a scrap company in Jalna, Maharashtra.
The proceeds from the sale were shared among the accused. They used the money for their family needs and also to support their bad habits. Police have recovered a road roller worth Rs 4.50 lakh and one DCM, two cranes and 4 mobile phones all worth Rs 30 lakhs.
