Sharmila dismisses reports of secret meeting with Jagan

Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y.S. Sharmila has rejected social media reports suggesting that she was planning a secret meeting with her brother and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, describing the speculation as fabricated, baseless and politically motivated.

Sharmila said she had no reason to use her daughter’s wedding for behind-the-scenes political manoeuvring and criticised what she described as attempts to link a family occasion with political developments. Her remarks come amid renewed speculation on social media about a possible meeting between the siblings.

She said the last time she met Jagan was when she went to invite him to her son Raja Reddy’s wedding. If she meets him again, she said, it would be for the same family reason, to personally invite him to her daughter Y.S. Anjili Reddy’s wedding.

Sharmila said Jagan would be invited along with the heads of other political parties and that there was nothing unusual about such an invitation. She also rejected speculation that she was planning to join or align with another political formation.

“I am not meeting anyone secretly or joining anyone. The stories being created on social media are baseless,” she said, warning against attempts to connect a family celebration with political developments.
