Everest Season Officially Opens

Kathmandu: Eleven climbing guides reached the summit of Mount Everest on Wednesday after completing rope-fixing operations, officially opening the route for the spring 2026 climbing season in Nepal.

The Dept of Tourism said the rope-fixing team reached the summit at 10.25 am, allowing climbers to begin summit attempts during the ongoing spring expedition season.

Nepali govt assigned Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee to manage the climbing route through the Khumbu Icefall from EBC to Camp II, while the Expedition Operators Association Nepal handled rope fixing above Camp II to the summit.
