Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Tuesday presented the Rs 36,607 crore budget for 2026–27 in the state assembly, focusing on six key sectors to boost infrastructure, people-centric development, economic growth, and governance reforms.

The budget, with a deficit of Rs 701.43 crore, is smaller than last year’s Rs 39,842 crore estimate, reflecting an 8.1 per cent reduction due to lower central allocations following the 16th Finance Commission’s recommendations.

Mein outlined six priority areas: strengthening infrastructure with Rs 2,038 crore; people-centric development with Rs 3,320 crore; sustaining economic growth with Rs 630 crore; entrepreneurship and employment generation with Rs 307 crore; resource mobilisation and fiscal stability with Rs 188 crore; and governance and reforms with Rs 727 crore.

Infrastructure initiatives include roads, connectivity, hydropower, solar energy, and off-grid electrification. People-focused measures cover health, education, skill development, and support for girls and youth. Economic growth plans target agriculture, tourism, oil palm cultivation, and the wine economy. Entrepreneurship and employment will be promoted through the Arun MSME Mission, startups, and skill programs. Fiscal measures include tax reforms, monitoring centrally sponsored schemes, and exploring green bonds. Governance initiatives focus on police and fire services, border management, and technology-driven administration.
