Varalakshmi Vratham is traditionally celebrated by inviting relatives and friends. However, Dr. Ch. Preethi Reddy, Vice Chairman, Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth, highlighted that Anganwadi and ASHA workers, who tirelessly serve society and work to safeguard public health, are the “true embodiments of Goddess Lakshmi.”

The Sri Varalakshmi Puja Mahotsavam, organized under the leadership of Dr. Preethi Reddy at her residence in Kompally, Hyderabad, was celebrated with great devotion and grandeur. More than 500 Anganwadi and ASHA workers from various Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the Medchal constituency participated in the celebrations and performed the special puja.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ch. Preethi Reddy, Vice Chairman, Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth, said, “Goddess Lakshmi does not represent wealth alone. Every woman who goes door-to-door, working tirelessly to protect the health of pregnant women and children, is truly an embodiment of Goddess Lakshmi.”

Recalling the dedication and hardships faced by these frontline workers at the grassroots level, Dr. Preethi Reddy said she felt deeply honoured to welcome them personally, arrange a special meal for them, and present them with pasupu-kumkuma and tambulam as part of the Varalakshmi Vratham celebrations.
