For decades, government jobs have remained the dream destination for lakhs of unemployed youth in Telangana. But with vacancies in the public sector limited and recruitment taking place only through agencies such as TGPSC and other boards, the overwhelming majority of job aspirants have been left competing for a handful of posts. Telangana's Digital Employment Exchange of Telangana (DEET) is quietly changing that narrative by becoming what many now describe as "LinkedIn for Telangana's unemployed youth."

Launched by the Telangana Government under the Department of Industries in December 2024, DEET is a first of its kind, AI powered employment platform that connects job seekers directly with private sector employers across the state, completely free of cost. Unlike commercial job portals that often charge users or flood them with vacancies from across the country, DEET focuses exclusively on Telangana and ensures that both employers and job seekers can access the platform without paying a single rupee.

The numbers reflect its growing acceptance. Since its launch, 1.44 lakh candidates, ranging from Class 10 pass students to Intermediate, ITI, Polytechnic, Degree, Postgraduate and PhD holders, have registered on the platform. More than 25,000 job seekers have been shortlisted by companies, while over 6,500 candidates received offer letters. Of them, nearly 2,000 candidates have already joined their workplaces.

The employer ecosystem is expanding at an equally impressive pace. More than 2,500 employers, including over 1,900 industrial enterprises, have come on board, using the platform to identify candidates whose qualifications and skills match their requirements.

What makes DEET stand apart is its AI driven recruitment engine. Instead of forcing candidates to endlessly search for vacancies, the platform intelligently matches educational qualifications, skills and location preferences with employer requirements. A pharmaceutical company, for instance, receives access only to pharmacy qualified candidates, while relevant job alerts are simultaneously sent only to eligible applicants. Candidate contact details remain protected until they express interest, ensuring privacy while eliminating middlemen and reducing fraudulent recruitment practices. The entire matching process is automated, making recruitment faster, more transparent and highly efficient.

The platform serves everyone from unskilled and semiskilled workers to fresh graduates, professionals and persons with disabilities. It also offers real time alerts for private jobs, internships, apprenticeships, walk in interviews, part time roles and work from home opportunities, besides resume support and interview notifications through its website and mobile app.

Despite operating with a limited three member core team deputed from different government departments, DEET has also organised job melas in 11 districts with district administrations. More than 40,000 candidates registered, 22,000 attended, but only around 900 were shortlisted by participating companies. The exercise exposed a significant skills gap, with employers pointing to the lack of industry ready candidates as the biggest challenge.

Ironically, that experience has only reinforced the strength of the DEET platform itself. Unlike conventional job fairs,  its AI based matching system delivers far better outcomes by connecting employers with precisely the talent they seek. As registrations continue to rise and more companies join the network every month, DEET is steadily emerging as Telangana's most powerful digital gateway to private sector employment, offering thousands of young people a practical pathway from education to meaningful careers.
