Murders, kidnaps, rapes, bodily and other offences and dowry deaths registered an upward trend in Rachakonda commissionerate limits in 2024, according to the annual report

The overall crime rate has been increased by 4 percent under Rachakonda police commissionerate during the year of 2024. Total of 28,626 criminal cases recorded this year as compared to 27,586 cases recorded in the year of 2023.
Presenting the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate annual report, Rachakonda Police Commissioner G Sudheer Babu on Monday said that compared to last year, this year crime rate has seen 4 percent more.
Rachakonda Commissioner G Sudheer Babu said murder cases increased by 11 percent, kidnapping (including minor missing) cases increased by 10 percent, rape cases (including false promises of marriage) by 17 percent, Dowry deaths cases increased by 13 percent and Bodily and other offences cases increased by 9 percent as compared to 2023.

Explaining in details, Rachakonda Commissioner Sudheer Babu said as many as 73 murder cases reported in 2024 in Rachakonda Commissionerate limits as against 66 in 2023, while 463 kidnapping cases reported in 2024 compared to 420 last year. As many as 384 rape cases were reported in 2024 as against 327 in 2023, while 18 dowry deaths cases reported in 2024 compared to 16 in 2023.
Dacoity, robbery, automobile theft, Ordinary theft, domestic violence, molestation and POCSO cases have seen decline this year. Commissioner said the year 2024 was marked by unwavering commitment to justice, public safety, and community well-being, with a special emphasis on Visible Policing, Quick Response and integration of technology (VQT) to combat rising crimes, particularly those affecting women, children and weaker sections of society.
According to the annual report, the Rachakonda commissionerate witnessed an overall decrease by 9 percent in crime against women in 2024. There were 2,893 cases of crime against women this year as compared to 3,172 last year.
Rachakonda Police registered 253 cases and 521 accused arrested and Rs 88 crore worth items seized in Drugs cases in 2024. In the Human Trafficking act, 33 cases registered and 61 people arrested and in the Gaming act, 236 cases registered, 1486 people arrested and Rs 1 crore amount seized in the year of 2024, said CP.
