CCI taking firm stance against cartelisation: CAG

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is keeping pace with market trends while taking a firm stance against cartelisation, Comptroller and Auditor General K Sanjay Murthy said on Wednesday.  

He was speaking at an event to mark the 17th Annual Day of the CCI in New Delhi. While talking about digital markets and trends, Murthy said the regulator is keeping pace with the latest developments in the domain. The anti-trust watchdog has the mandate to ensure fair competition in the marketplace across sectors. Murthy said the CCI has transformed India's market landscape from a rigid command and control regime to a modern, competitive economy, and added that the regulator has taken a firm stance against cartelisation.

CAG calls for use of data, tech to detect unfair practices in govt tenders

India should use data and technology to detect corruption and unfair practices in government tenders, with stronger coordination between the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and the Competition Commission of India to identify collusion and protect public funds, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, K Sanjay Murthy said on Wednesday.

Murthy said audit and competition enforcement must work together to identify anti-competitive practices in procurement, as such actions directly affect public expenditure and citizen 

welfare.
