Cardiologist urges for greater attention to everyday habits

Metro India News | Hyderabad : Ahead of World Heart Day on September 29, Dr. Chanakya Kishore Kammaripalli, Clinical Director and Senior Interventional Cardiologist at CARE Hospitals, Hitech City has urged people to pay greater attention to everyday habits that can quietly increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. According to Dr. Kishore , heart disease often does not begin with the first episode of chest pain or a heart attack.

The underlying risk can build silently over several years, with conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, excess weight, physical inactivity and unhealthy lifestyle habits gradually affecting the heart and blood vessels. He described several common habits as relationships that people may need to “break up” with for the sake of their heart. Smoking, he said, should be among the first habits to be abandoned.

Tobacco damages blood vessels and significantly increases cardiovascular risk. Dr. Kishore also urged people not to neglect routine health checks. High blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes can remain undetected for years because they may not produce obvious symptoms.  As World Heart Day approaches, Dr. Kishore mentioned that starting with one unhealthy habit and gradually making sustainable changes can be a practical approach to improving heart health.
