State Medical and Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav said on Saturday that the state-of-the-art services at Kurnool Cancer Hospital has been made available to the public like nowhere else in the state.
Minister inspected the cancer hospital set up at a cost of Rs 120 crore at Kurnool. The minister said the hospital has been constructed on nearly two acres of land and machinery worth Rs 20 crore have been set up and added that efforts have been made to provide basic amenities worth Rs 10 crore.
He mentioned that most of the critical surgeries were performed at Kurnool Government Hospital besides offering most of the services. The minister congratulated the staff for bringing about changes on a daily basis this year. Services are being offered free of cost with advanced technology, he said. He admitted that there is a shortage of 40 percent government doctors and also a shortage of assistant professors.
He recalled that in 2018, the central government released Rs 120 crore to the state cancer hospital. He charged the YSRCP government of being negligent in the construction of a cancer hospital for five years. He recalled that due to this, cancer patients lost their lives due to lack of proper services.
He said that after the NDA government came to power, tenders at a cost of Rs 45 crore, pending works and purchase of machinery were completed. State Industries Minister TG Bharath, Adoni MLA Parthasarathy, Joint Collector Navya, Kurnool Government Hospital Superintendent Venkateswarlu and other officials were present on the occasion
