BRS leaders move Lokayukta over alleged irregularities in lift irrigation scheme

Former BRS MLAs have approached the Lokayukta seeking a comprehensive probe into alleged irregularities in the Makthal-Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme being implemented in Narayanpet and Vikarabad districts.

BRS Narayanpet district president and former MLA S. Rajendhar Reddy, former Makthal MLA Chittem Rammohan Reddy and former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narendar Reddy lodged the complaint on Thursday, seeking action against those responsible if wrongdoing is established.

 Rajendhar Reddy alleged large-scale discrepancies in land acquisition near Perapalla village, including claims of fake passbooks being used to secure compensation. He also alleged mismatches between survey numbers and actual land locations and said some farmers were shown as losing land to water storage in Jayamma Cheruvu despite allegedly retaining their land. The BRS leaders demanded transparency in the project and strict action against officials or others found responsible for corruption or violations. They said the Lokayukta inquiry would bring the facts to light and ensure proper utilisation of public funds.
