The BJP on Friday criticized Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah with AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on patriotism.

BJP State Chief Spokesperson and Media Incharge N. V. Subash, in a press statement, said patriotism should not be judged through “political convenience or selective statements” and questioned why the Chief Minister sought to place leaders with different political and ideological backgrounds on the same pedestal.

Citing Owaisi’s controversial “Jai Palestine” remark after taking his Lok Sabha oath in June 2024 and his earlier refusal to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, Subash said such statements had triggered questions about his approach to national symbols and sentiments. He also referred to the AIMIM’s historical association with the Razakar movement and its reported legal assistance to youths arrested in cases involving alleged Islamic State links.
