Bhatti challenges opposition over ‘Indiramma’ success

The govt is firmly supporting beneficiaries with the slogan: “Build the house… Get the bill paid.” Despite financial constraints, the government has not stepped back from supporting the poor 

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka strongly criticised the opposition BRS members for walking out of the Assembly without listening to the discussion on welfare of the poor, stating that they lacked the intent to hear the budget reply.

During the Question Hour in the Assembly on Wednesday, he spoke at length on the Indiramma Housing Scheme. On this occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the failures of the previous government while showcasing the commitment of the present people’s government.

“Previous rulers misled the public with false promises and secured votes by assuring double-bedroom houses. However, during their ten-year rule, they failed to construct even a single house for the poor and abandoned them,” Bhatti alleged.

He recalled that in the united state, former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had initiated the Indiramma housing scheme with the noble aim of ensuring dignity for the poor, and said the present government is continuing the same spirit with substantial budget allocations.

Bhatti Vikramarka lashed out at BRS MLAs who tore the budget copies and walked out, stating that they have no right to speak about budget allocations.

“The opposition does not want the poor to build houses and live with dignity. They are spreading false propaganda that funds have been reduced. In reality, we have allocated Rs. 22,500 crore for constructing 4.5 lakh houses across the state, with 3,500 houses per constituency,” he clarified.

Bhatti Vikramarka further stated that Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy is continuously reviewing the progress of Indiramma housing. To accelerate the works, the government has issued strict instructions to ensure weekly bill payments instead of making beneficiaries wait for months as in the past, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister noted that although funds for the Indiramma housing scheme are readily available, there is a need to speed up construction at the ground level. So far, bill payments to beneficiaries have not crossed Rs. 5,000 crore, he said.

Bhatti Vikramarka urged all MLAs to focus on expediting construction in their constituencies, assuring that the faster the progress, the quicker the funds will be released.
