In a significant boost to cancer care infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, the renowned Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital has commenced construction of its new facility in the capital region of Amaravati. The foundation works for the hospital at Thullur were formally launched by hospital chairman and managing trustee Nandamuri Balakrishna. The Hyderabad-based institution, known for delivering quality cancer treatment for over two decades, is now expanding its footprint to Andhra Pradesh with a state-of-the-art facility aimed at improving access to advanced oncology services.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Balakrishna expressed gratitude to the farmers and women who contributed thousands of acres of land for the development of Amaravati. He said such large-scale projects are only possible due to their cooperation and sacrifice. He also noted the significance of the day, stating that the construction began under the auspicious Swati Nakshatra, associated with his father N. T. Rama Rao and his revered deity Lord Narasimha. Balakrishna revealed that the Amaravati hospital will be built to international standards and equipped with the latest medical technology. He also announced that a grand event will be held on June 22 to mark 25 years of the Hyderabad hospital, with invitations to be extended to Chief Ministers of both Telugu states and Union ministers. Emphasising that Amaravati’s development is being undertaken with long-term vision rather than haste, he reiterated the commitment to planned growth.
