Barbie 2 faces uncertainty

A sequel to 2023’s blockbuster Barbie faces an uncertain future as Warner Bros. and the creative team remain locked in stalled compensation talks, putting the project at risk of being shelved. Director and co-writer Greta Gerwig, co-screenwriter Noah Baumbach, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are attached to the potential follow-up. According to reports, Warner Bros. has made more than six offers over three years, all rejected.
The latest was reportedly the studio’s biggest-ever offer to a filmmaking team and its stars. However, the creative team is seeking higher upfront fees and increased back-end participation.
