Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu paid homage today to slain party leader Veerayya Chowdary, who was brutally murdered last night in Ongole. Naidu visited Ammanabrolu village in Naguluppalapadu Mandal of Prakasam district to pay his respects and offer condolences to the grieving family.
Draped in grief and solidarity, the Chief Minister laid a floral wreath on Veerayya Chowdary's mortal remains and interacted with his family members, assuring them of full party support and promising that justice would be delivered.
“The party stands firmly behind you,” Naidu told the bereaved family, consoling them and pledging assistance. Naidu was accompanied by several senior leaders and ministers, including Vangalapudi Anitha, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and several MLAs and party officials, all of whom paid tribute and offered condolences to the family.
Speaking to the media at the site, Naidu condemned the attack in the strongest terms, describing it as a “barbaric act worse than any committed by hardened criminals.” “Veerayya Chowdary was stabbed 53 times. Just imagine the brutality. Those who committed this heinous crime are unfit to walk on this earth,” Naidu stated with visible anguish. He vowed that the perpetrators would be tracked down and punished, promising to deliver justice not only to the family but also to the soul of the departed leader.
Praising Veerayya Chowdary’s commitment and service to the party, Naidu recalled that he had accompanied TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh for over 100 days during the party’s recent statewide yatra. “He was a leader who stood by the people during hard times, a voice for the voiceless, always accessible and dependable. It’s heartbreaking to lose such a man,” Naidu said.
Naidu also revealed that 12 special teams have been deployed to hunt down the assailants. The Chief Minister linked the crime to rising political violence, saying Veerayya Chowdary’s popularity was evident in the 10,000-vote majority secured by TDP in the Mandal.
