Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K Atchannaidu on Friday said Flue Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco production in the state will be capped at 81 million kg for the 2026-27 season and farmers will be informed of this production limit.

The Agriculture Minister held a teleconference with Energy Minister G Ravi Kumar, Tobacco Board officials and other stakeholders to review FCV tobacco procurement, with a focus on expediting purchases and ensuring remunerative prices for farmers.

“FCV tobacco production in 2026-27 will be capped at 81 million kg and we will create awareness for farmers,” he said. According to Atchannaidu, tobacco procurement picked up over the past four days, clocking 8.5 lakh kg per day. Noting that the current maximum FCV tobacco procurement price is Rs 250, he requested the Tobacco Board chairman to pressure companies to further increase it to benefit farmers.
