Washington: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) chief Michael Banks has resigned with immediate effect, marking the latest upheaval in President Donald Trump’s immigration team.
Banks, who returned to govt service after Trump resumed office last year, informed Fox News of his decision, saying, “It’s just time.”
In a letter to staff, he said he planned to return to Texas to focus on his family and ranch. His exit follows the earlier departures of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and outspoken CBP commander Greg Bovino.
