Traffic curbs for Ganesh Immersion today

Hyderabad City Police issued traffic regulations for the Lord Ganesh immersion procession on September 25, 2026, to ensure smooth traffic movement, public safety and orderly conduct of the festivities.

The restrictions will be in force from 6 am on September 25 to 10 am on September 26, and may be extended depending on the situation. Restrictions on NTR Marg, PVNR Marg (Necklace Road), Tank Bund and Khairatabad Flyover may continue until the evening of September 26.

Main procession route

The main procession will begin at Balapur Ganesh Mandapam and proceed through Ganesh Chowk, Diamond Hotel Junction, Kattamaisamma Temple, Keshavagiri, Chandrayangutta Flyover, MBNR X Road, Falaknuma Railway Over Bridge, Aliabad, Nagulchinta, Charminar, Madina, Afzalgunj, SA Bazar, MJ Market, Abids, Basheerbagh, Liberty Junction and Ambedkar Statue before reaching NTR Marg and PVNR Marg.

Separate procession routes have also been notified for idols arriving from Secunderabad, Uppal, Dilsukhnagar, Tarnaka, Tolichowki, Mehdipatnam, Erragadda, Tappachabutra, Asifnagar, Kulsumpura, Jiyaguda, Attapur, Aramghar, Kamatipura and Bahadurpura.

Police said vehicles other than those carrying Ganesh idols will not be permitted on the main procession routes during the notified period. Side roads and lanes leading to the procession routes will also be barricaded.

Major diversions

Traffic diversions will be implemented across several zones, including Chandrayangutta, Charminar, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Golconda, Khairatabad and Secunderabad.

Key diversion areas include Chandrayangutta X road, MBNR X road, IS Sadan, Chanchalguda, Nalgonda X Road, Chaderghat, Charminar, MJ Bridge, City college, Aramghar, Bahadurpura, Ameerpet, Panjagutta, Himayatnagar, Narayanaguda, RTC X road, Musheerabad, Tank Bund, Paradise, Patny and Ranigunj.

Police advised commuters to use the Inner Ring Road, Masab Tank - Panjagutta - Begumpet - Secunderabad corridor or the Outer Ring Road to avoid congestion.

Parking for devotees

Visitors arriving to witness the immersion have been asked to park at designated locations which included NTR Stadium, Katta Maisamma Temple/Lower Tank Bund, Martyrs Memorial Parking, Vishveshwaraiah Bhavan, Institute of Engineers, MMTS Khairatabad, Public Gardens, North East and South East Road parking areas, Khilwat Ground, Charminar Bus Stop, AU Hospital, QQ Stadium. Devotees will have to proceed on foot from the designated parking areas.

Heavy commercial vehicles, trailers and local lorries will not be permitted to enter the city during the restrictions. Inter-district and national-permit vehicles will have to terminate their movement on the city outskirts and use the Outer Ring Road (ORR). Local lorries and construction equipment vehicles will also be barred from entering the city from 6 am on September 25 to 11 pm on September 26.

RTC city buses will also be subject to the notified traffic diversions. During peak procession movement, buses will be stopped at designated points such as Masab Tank, V.V. Statue, CTO, Plaza, SBH, Clock Tower, Chilkalguda, Ramanthapur, Tarnaka, Gaddiannaram, Chaderghat, Aramghar, Danamma Huts, IS Sadan and YMCA / Narayanaguda.

Inter-state and inter-district buses bound for MGBS will be required to use alternative routes. Their movement restrictions will apply from 6 am on September 25 to 8 am on September 26.

Private contract carriage buses have been instructed to operate from locations outside the city and use the ORR. They will not be permitted to enter the city from 6 am on September 22 to noon on September 26.

Roads to avoid

Police have advised commuters to avoid: MJ Market, GPO Abids, Liberty, Ranigunj, Telugu Thalli statue, Khairatabad, Kavadiguda, Narayanaguda X Roads, RTC X Roads, Musheerabad X Roads, Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace Road / PVNR Marg and People's Plaza.

People travelling to or from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport have been advised to avoid Necklace Road, NTR Marg, Tank Bund and the main procession routes and instead use the PVNR Expressway or ORR.

Passengers travelling to or from Secunderabad Railway Station have been advised to use the Begumpet - Paradise Flyover - St. John's Rotary -  Sangeeth X Road route. For guidance and travel assistance, citizens can contact: 040-27852482 ; 8712660600 ; 9010203626.
