In a special drive to eradicate ganja (cannabis) and other narcotic substances, police teams conducted extensive midnight surprise checks across Mahabubabad district. Under the leadership of DSP Tirupati Rao, the teams comprising Town CI Raghupati Reddy, Rural CI Anjali, seven Sub-Inspectors and 40 police personnel carried out widespread inspections in deserted locations, vacant grounds, bushes, areas near railway tracks, parks, educational institutions and spots frequented by youth.

During the operation, 25 persons were booked for open drinking in public places and legal action was initiated against them. Fifteen suspicious individuals were tested on the spot using ganja testing kits, and all of them tested negative. Speaking on the occasion, Mahabubabad District Superintendent of Police Dr. Shabarish IPS said that special surveillance is being maintained on ganja peddlers, suppliers, and consumers.

He described ganja as a social evil that is destroying the future of the youth and asserted that the police department is taking stringent measures to make Mahabubabad a completely ganja-free district.

The SP appealed to the public to share any information regarding ganja sales, transportation, storage, or consumption by calling the district police helpline number 8712656999. He assured that the identity of informers would be kept strictly confidential.
