The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana to August 10, providing additional time to ensure comprehensive house to house enumeration and greater accuracy in the electoral database. The exercise, which commenced on June 25, was originally scheduled to conclude on August 3.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, digitisation of enumeration forms has reached 77.12 per cent across the State. Hyderabad has recorded 56.31 per cent progress, making it the district with the lowest digitisation rate so far.

The revised schedule fixes August 10 as the last date for submission of enumeration forms and completion of the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations. The draft electoral rolls will be published on August 17, followed by the period for claims and objections from August 17 to September 16. These claims and objections will be examined and disposed of between August 17 and October 15, after which the final electoral rolls will be published on October 19, 2026.

The Election Commission has appealed to eligible citizens, Booth Level Officers and recognised political parties to make full use of the extended timeline to ensure an accurate, inclusive and error free electoral roll, strengthening the democratic process.
