Washington: Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have renewed public feud after Musk accused Altman of “scamming” people, as OpenAI faces a trade secrets lawsuit from Apple. The latest exchange began when Musk reposted a message on X calling Altman “Scam Altman”, adding: “He takes scamming to a whole new level.”
Altman mocked at Musk’s proposal to launch orbital data centres, saying: “Homeboy, you’re the one selling public market investors on short-term space datacentres.”
Musk fired back: “We start flying them next year. Maybe you can come see them if your parole officer approves. After stealing an open-source AI charity, you then stole all of Apple’s phone technology!”
Altman took another swipe, promoting OpenAI’s latest AI model, posting: “The most reliable way to tell is that Elon is obsessed with me again.”
Earlier on Friday, Apple sued OpenAI, alleging trade secret theft and breach of contract. It accuses hardware chief Tang Tan, a former Apple executive, of misusing confidential information, recruiting Apple employees.
