Pawan Kalyan extends support to family of pharma student Terms suicide as unfortunate

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has reacted to the suicide of pharmacy student Naganjali on Friday. He termed the suicide as unfortunate and assured the family of the victim that the state government would stand by her in all ways. He assured that strictest action will be taken as per law against the person responsible for the suicide.  

Naganjali, a pharmacy intern at Rajahmundry attempted suicide by consuming an overdose of sedatives after being harassed allegedly by a top official of the hospital. She fought for her life on a ventilator for 12 days and passed away after that. The official who has been named as the accused in the suicide note has already been arrested.

"The state government is taking several steps to protect the students and young women. When such incidents occur, the police department should also take more proactive action and take into account the anguish and emotions of the victim community," he said.

He stated that students will be worried if a fellow student commits suicide and gave the example of medicos who were agitating during the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said that he would inform Home Minister Anitha and the DGP about the precautions and measures to be followed in the wake of the Rajahmundry incident.
