‘Every acre in constituency to get assured irrigation’

Declaring that agriculture and rural infrastructure remain the State Government's top priorities, Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Sunday announced that every acre in the constituency would receive assured irrigation through the Brahmana Vellemula Project, while the SLBC project would provide irrigation to nearly four lakh acres in Nalgonda district by August 2028.

Minister Komatireddy inaugurated the newly constructed Gram Panchayat building at Kanchanpalli village in Nalgonda mandal, built at a cost of Rs 20 lakh and while addressing a meeting he said the Rs 11-crore Kanchanpalli Lift Irrigation Scheme would be completed by Dasara, ensuring irrigation to every acre in the village.

A 33/11 KV power substation, sanctioned at a cost of Rs 3 crore, would also be inaugurated on the same occasion. He further announced that he would personally distribute silk sarees to all women of the village during the Dasara celebrations. Highlighting the government's long-term irrigation vision, Minister Komatireddy said the reconstruction of the SLBC tunnel and canal system is progressing with the objective of making Nalgonda drought-free and agriculturally prosperous. Minister Komatireddy also assured that Kanchanpalli would be developed into a model village with improved roads, drainage, drinking water supply, irrigation facilities and a modern government school.

 Stressing women's economic empowerment, Minister Komatireddy said the government is supporting women's groups by promoting small businesses and facilitating the establishment of rice mills and warehouses. District Collector B. Chandrasekhar, addressing the gathering, requested farmers to diversify crops in view of the anticipated El Niño conditions and advised them to reduce dependence on paddy cultivation. He said 35 Indiramma houses had already been sanctioned to the village, with 26 completed and the remaining under construction.

The Collector also stated that the government is establishing one Telangana Model Public School in every Assembly constituency to strengthen public education. He appealed the villagers to maintain sanitation by segregating wet and dry waste and informed that construction of women's self-help group buildings is progressing. Several public representatives and senior officials, including In-charge Additional Collector (Local Bodies) and ZP CEO Prem Karan Reddy, village representatives and officials from the Roads & Buildings, Panchayat Raj and Revenue departments, attended the program.
