Drunk husband hacks wife to death in Ibrahimpatnam

A 30-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband in a brutal axe attack at Nomula village in Ibrahimpatnam on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Amrutha (30), was attacked inside her residence. According to police officials, the accused, Madharmoni Babu, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

Investigators said that before carrying out the assault, the accused allegedly confined their daughter-in-law in a separate room to prevent her from intervening. He then attacked his wife with an axe, leading to her death on the spot.

Neighbours grew suspicious after sensing unusual activity in the house and immediately alerted the police. A police team rushed to the spot, secured the scene, and shifted the body to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem examination.

A case of murder has been registered, and police have launched a manhunt to trace the accused, who fled the scene after the attack.

Officials said the exact motive behind the killing is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
