Drug trafficking: FBI arrests Indian national

Washington: FBI on Tuesday arrested Indian national Harmanveer Singh in California for his alleged role in a transnational drug trafficking network linked to the Canada-based Ravinder Dha­nda gang. He was arrested in Stockton following Operation Hard Ball, a coordinated international crackdown targ­eting Lawre­n­ce Bishnoi, Jag­gu Bhag­wanpuria and Ravi­nder Dhanda crime groups.

Singh is accused of conspiracy to distribute, possess and export controlled substances. Investigators alleged the Ravinder Dhanda organised crime group, based in Vancouver, smuggled large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine across the US, Canada and Mexico.

$3mn tungsten theft: Illegal Indian held 

US authorities have arrested Indian national Deepak Kumar after recovering $3 million worth of stolen tungsten oxide powder from his truck. Deepak faces theft charges. —PTI
