Deepika Padukone wasn’t the first choice for the film Piku

Shoojit Sircar’s Piku is undoubtedly one of the best slice-of-life films made in Bollywood. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan was released in 2015, and it was a hit at the box office with a collection of Rs. 79.77 crore.

Deepika and Big B won many Best Actor and Best Actress awards for their performance in the film, and Bachchan also won a National Award. Now, Piku is all set to re-release in May, but, did you know that Deepika Padukone was not the first choice for the film? Yes, you read it right!

Deepika was so good as Piku that we can’t imagine any other actress in the role. But, Sircar’s first choice for the movie was Parineeti Chopra. The filmmaker had approached Parineeti for the film, but reportedly, she had to turn down the offer as she was busy with another movie.

During an episode of Neha Dhupia’s talk show BFFs With Vogue, Parineeti had revealed, “I didn’t really turn down the film. There was some confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time and then that film also didn’t happen, so it was my loss.”
