Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed all departments to work in coordination for the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027, where nearly 10 crore devotees are expected to take part during the 12-day pilgrimage beginning June 26, 2027.

Reviewing preparations, Naidu said the Polavaram Project would be completed before the event and dedicated to the nation. He added that infrastructure created for the Pushkaralu should become permanent assets for the Godavari region.

The government plans to establish 525 Pushkar Ghats across six districts, including 237 new ghats, along with roads, tents, washrooms and other facilities. East Godavari district will have the highest number of ghats.

Naidu proposed developing the stretch between Dhavaleswaram and Polavaram as an “Akhanda Godavari Corridor” and stressed transforming Rajahmundry into a global city. The state has sanctioned 132 development works worth Rs 211.97 crore for the event. Municipal and Panchayat Raj departments are also executing over 2,800 works worth more than Rs 3,000 crore.

The Chief Minister directed officials to improve highway and railway connectivity, seek special trains from the Centre and develop crowd management systems with APSAN, RTGS and TTD support.

He also suggested Kumbh Mela-style tent cities and homestay facilities for pilgrims and asked officials to submit a comprehensive action plan by June 24.
