CM announces sops to resolve pending issues of govt employees

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced a series of measures to address the long-pending demands of government employees, including the constitution of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), release of pending Dearness Allowances (DAs) and additional pension benefits. Describing employees as an integral part of the government, Naidu assured employee association leaders that the government would continue to support their welfare and work towards resolving their issues.

The government agreed to constitute the 12th PRC, meeting a key demand of employees. It also decided to release two pending DAs from October 1, 2026. The DAs due from July 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025 will be paid to employees as part of the decision. The government further agreed to credit the 2022 surrender leave amounts to employees’ accounts by the coming Sankranti. Police personnel will receive payment for one additional surrender leave during the upcoming Dasara festival.

Another major decision concerns the Additional Quantum of Pension, which will be implemented from January 2027. Pensioners aged above 70 years will receive an additional 10 per cent quantum of pension, while those above 75 years will receive an additional 15 per cent. The Chief Minister also announced steps to streamline the Employees Health Scheme (EHS).

From next month, the government will make monthly payments to the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust to facilitate the scheme’s functioning. The decisions are expected to entail an additional annual expenditure of Rs.2,880 crore on the State exchequer.

Naidu reiterated that the government would continue to take practical measures to resolve employees’ pending issues while ensuring their welfare and well-being. Employee association leaders welcomed the announcements and expressed satisfaction with the government’s approach.
