Sky Force earns `5.30 cr on Day 1, facing competition from Fighter this Republic Day
Sky Force vs Fighter
Sky Force, starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, had a solid opening with Rs. 15.30 crore on its first day. However, it falls short in comparison to Fighter, which had a stronger start with Rs. 24.60 crore. Both films share similar themes, focusing on the Indian Air Force and being inspired by true events. Sky Force lacks the advantage of an extra holiday this year, as Republic Day falls on Sunday, while Fighter benefitted from a long weekend. Time will tell if Sky Force can match the lifetime success of Fighter, which grossed over Rs. 205 crore.
Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya’s Sky Force was released on Friday. The movie received positive reviews, and a strong opening at the box office was expected. A double-digit opening was anticipated, and it has lived up to expectations. According to the makers, the film collected Rs 15.30 crore on its first day, which is considered very good.
The film needed a solid start to maintain momentum over the weekend. If the movie shows growth on Saturday and Sunday, it could surpass the Rs 50 crore mark in three days. However, if it remains stable without a significant increase, it can still collect Rs 46-48 crore over the first weekend, which would not be bad. This is a relief for Akshay Kumar, as Sky Force has had a better opening than his recent releases.
Sky Force is being compared to Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter for several reasons. Both movies are based on the Indian Air Force (IAF), inspired by true events, and released around Republic Day. When comparing opening numbers, Fighter had a bigger start.
The Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer collected Rs 24.60 crore on its first day, while Sky Force earned Rs 15.30 crore. The lifetime collection of Fighter was Rs 205.55 crore, so it will be interesting to see if Sky Force can surpass that.
