Axis Bank reinforces commitment to MSME and commercial banking

Axis Bank on Thursday outlined how its MSME business is supporting business growth, entrepreneurship and financial inclusion across Telangana, at a media roundtable in Hyderabad. Prashanth T.S., Group Head – Mid-Corporate & Medium Enterprises Group and Vijay Shetty, Group Head – Commercial Banking Group and other senior officials, discussed the Bank's approach of bringing together its relationship-led branch network and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)-focused capabilities across Telangana.

Axis Bank’s combined Small Business Banking, SME and Mid-Corporate book stands at Rs 2.93 lakh crore as of March 2026, contributing 23.8% to the Bank’s loan book. In Telangana, over 24,000 MSME accounts served across the state and Hyderabad, Medchal, Sangareddy, Warangal and Khammam being key growth markets for commercial banking and ecosystem-led financing initiatives.

In Telangana, the Bank has a franchise of 199 branches across 30 districts, over 2,800 employees, and a customer base of more than 17 lakh active Savings Account customers, 1.48 lakh active Current Account customers and 3.29 lakh active Term Deposit customers.  Nearly 75% of unsecured business loan disbursements are now processed through end-to-end digital journeys, while 79% of Small Business Banking business continues to originate through branches.

Axis Bank is using digital lending tools such as Digital Merchant Cash Advance to provide quicker business loans based on transaction and payment data, reducing paperwork and improving access to working capital. AI-powered platforms like SIDDHI and the Generative AI assistant Adi help employees deliver better customer engagement and real-time support.

Prashanth T.S. said Telangana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem needs data-driven banking and faster credit access, while Vijay Shetty noted that banking today helps businesses grow and compete. The bank also supports over 10,500 rural families and 1,875 persons with disabilities through livelihood, skill development and employability programmes across Telangana.
