1,500 participate in Olympic Day Run

More than 1,500 students and athletes participated in the Olympic Day Run organized by the Kurnool District Olympic Association on Tuesday, turning the event into a vibrant celebration of sports, fitness and unity.

The run was flagged off at the historic Konda Reddy Fort by District School Games Federation Secretary Krishna, Rotary Club President Prasad Gupta, RSI Naga Swamy, Rayalaseema University Sports Coordinator Dr. Shiva Kishore, District Olympic Association Secretary Srinivasulu and other sports officials. The participants carried the Olympic spirit through the city’s major landmarks before concluding at the Kurnool Outdoor Stadium.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, DSP Mahaboob Basha emphasized the importance of discipline and regular sports practice in shaping a bright future for young athletes.  District Olympic Association Executive President Nagaratnammaiah said the association remains committed to the welfare and development of sportspersons through collective efforts. He revealed that competitions in 28 sporting disciplines had been organized to identify and nurture young talent across the district.

Highlighting future initiatives, Nagaratnammaiah announced plans to plant 2,036 saplings in Kurnool in line with the vision of Indian Olympic Association President P.T. Usha, promoting environmental awareness alongside sports development.
