Tummala directs officials to explore partnerships with e-commerce companies

Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara directed the officials to explore potential partnerships with e-commerce companies for marketing purposes and to investigate the marketing strategies employed on social media.

Representatives of Texport Industries Private Limited paid a courtesy call on Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao at the Secretariat on Wednesday. They briefed the Minister on the progress of the construction work of a garment manufacturing unit undertaken at a cost of Rs 60 crore in Peddur, Rajanna Siricilla district.

The company representatives told the Minister that their company has long-standing business relationships with leading brands and retailers in the US, including Kohl's, Robert Graham LLC, Tommy Hilfiger, Vans, VG Europe BVB, Nautica, Michael Kors, Primark, etc., and that the company received "Export House" recognition from the Central Government within three years of its inception.

They said the clothing production is currently ready to start from the unit in Peddur. On the occasion, Principal Secretary of Textile department Shailaja Ramayar said that through the establishment of this clothing manufacturing unit, about 2,000 locals will be given jobs, especially women, and this unit will provide employment to approximately 70 lakh men every year.

She informed the Minister that the company has the ability to make clothes for women and children, aimed at exporting clothes worth Rs 270 crores every year. During the event, the Minister recommended that there should be significant job opportunities for local women and emphasized that clothing should be produced to meet quality standards and remain competitive in the market. He highlighted the importance of providing essential training to bolster the handloom sector, adding value to the produced handlooms, and stimulating market demand.
