Swayampakula Janaki Rama Murthy, a revered architect and spiritualist, passed away on January 9, 2025, coinciding with Vaikunta Ekadasi Thithi. Known for his exceptional contributions to architecture, education, and heritage conservation, Murthy's life was a blend of professional brilliance and profound spirituality. Born in 1950, he excelled academically, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and Post-Graduate Diplomas in Jyothir Vasthu and Ecology and Environment.

Murthy's career began at APIIC Ltd’s Housing Department in Hyderabad, later founding M/s Balaji Consultants in 1980. He designed public and private buildings, religious edifices, and conservation projects, merging modernity with heritage. In 1994, he established the Sri Venkateswara College of Architecture in Hyderabad, nurturing a generation of architects.

As a consulting architect for prestigious institutions, Murthy became a custodian of India's architectural heritage. His final project, the Shrimatam of Kanchi Peetham at Kolanukonda, stands as a testament to his faith and talent. Tragically, he passed away before its inauguration.

Murthy was also devoted to spirituality, serving as Co-ordinator to Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Activities in Andhra Pradesh. He supported Veda and Smartha Patashalas and balanced his spiritual pursuits with a love for Carnatic music and cultural heritage activities.

Murthy's legacy includes numerous accolades, including an architectural excellence award in 2007. His true legacy lies in the lives he touched and the spaces he created. He is survived by his wife, Madhubala, and three daughters.
