Speaker Gaddam Prasad addresses students at PJTAU

Telangana State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Gaddam Prasad Kumar, participated in an interactive session with students at Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTAU) in Rajendranagar. The event was attended by Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Aldas Janaiah, faculty, and staff.

During his speech, Speaker Prasad Kumar expressed pride in PJTAU's national and international recognition in agricultural research. He highlighted the university's development of 67 high-yielding rice varieties, which constitute 25% of the rice varieties cultivated in India, showcasing the dedication of the university's scientists.

He also praised PJTAU's role in gaining international recognition for Tandur Red Gram and expressed confidence in the university's continued success under the leadership of Professor Aldas Janaiah.

Speaker Prasad Kumar emphasized the Telangana government's commitment to agriculture, noting that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, being a farmer's son, understands the sector's needs. He mentioned the government's allocation of Rs 50,000 crore to agriculture in the first year, loan waivers for 25 lakh farmers, and various support schemes.

He urged students to pursue careers in agriculture and contribute to the sector's development. The Speaker also assured that he would bring the university's issues to the Chief Minister's attention and work towards enhancing its reputation.
